I had the idea to test a natural boat design in the mid 1980's. It occured to me when I had to motor hard astern over some distance and found my new yacht went 25% faster backwards than forwards, despite the natural inefficiency of a propellor in reverse! This stimulated my looking across the spectrum of birds and fish travelling through air and water. I noticed that no fish, mammal or bird travels through any fluid environment with the sharp end at the front (beaks and other probisci notwithstanding).
In essence, evolution over millenia has dictated that the best shape to move through water or air is that of a tear, blunt end forward.
This contrasts with the generality of all yacht shapes now commonally accepted as the norm where '"the sharp end is at the front of the boat".
